The Executive

President - Mr. Geoffrey Clements - Birmingham born and bred, Geoffrey is Managing Director of a high-technology company involved in digital imaging and colour and became President of the shul in July 2008. Married to Deborah who works at Birmingham University, with four children, Geoffrey is also a Governor of King David Primary School as well as being involved in many other community projects.

Gabbai - Mr. Tony Rose - a past Chairman of the Council for a number of years and now Gabbai. Tony is on the Executive of the Birmingham Chevra Kadisha Society and is a Trustee of the Frederick Jacombs & Eva Bloom Lodge, as well as being Chairman of the family schoolwear business which he and his wife, Coreen, founded in 1963.

Treasurer - Mr. Arthur Gremson - joined the Executive team at Central having served for many years at Birmingham Hebrew Congregation Singers Hill Synagogue.  Originally from Dublin, Arthur and his wife, Irene, moved to Birmingham where he is the Managing Director of a highly successful trophy business.  Running the Shul finances is no easy task yet Arthur fulfils his role with tact, discretion and a firm hand.

Vice-Chairman of the Council - Mrs Enid Korn - the first woman to serve on the Executive in the history of Birmingham Central Synagogue, Enid is a native of Birmingham and together with her husband David has brought up four children in the city. She is an experienced educational consultant and leads both Ofsted and Jewish studies (Pikuach) school inspections. She is one of the founders of Pikuach and is a member of its management committee.

Ex. Officio - Mr. Leonard Jacobs - having completed 25 years as President in 2008, Leonard now holds an Ex. Officio position on the Executive, continuing to offer his knowledge and guidance in all shul matters.
