Students

The students play an active role in our shul life and are an important part of our community.

Central Shul is just a short walk away from Hillel House and the main student accommodation in Selly Oak. Students are encouraged to take part in all shul events and hospitality is provided by the community for Shabbat and Yom Tov meals.

Students' pastoral needs are catered for by the Midlands Regional Chaplaincy and there is also a branch of Aish HaTorah in Birmingham.

Student Membership

We have had many requests from students who would like to associate themselves with the shul in a more formal way and have now created a new category of "Student Member". In return for a membership fee of £50 per academic year, students will be allocated their own seat in shul, included in all mailings and will be invited to any formal meetings (although not entitled to a vote, which is limited to full members ony).

The Application form can be downloaded here and returned to the shul office by post or email.

If you require futher information on student membership then please contact the office or our Student Representative on the Shul Council, Jamie Kay.
